Sugar
Sugar was named after a song. “Got to have some Sugar Sugar” We all
need a little Sugar in our herd. Sugar comes from our very special friend
Amie, whom we adored and miss very much. Amie was the milking queen here
at Mamm-Key. She was one working girl. Producing over 5000 lbs every year.
Amie’s dam Legacy was also a 5000-pound milker. These does are one of a
kind and after all these years, I didn’t realize what I had in the palm of my
hand. If I could go back I would change many things. I should
have respected these genetics more. Sugar Sugar is a big, long and tall
doe as her dam was. She is extremely open ribbed and deep bodied.
She is going to be a very good milker. Her udder is already showing
correct teat placement and shape. Sugar Sugar also has very good feet and
as her dam she tracks very straight. She has more rear leg angulation than
her dam and a very correct rear leg set. I seem to have lost some of the
pictures we took of Sugar in 2007. She is very similar to Story in style.
Sugar did not get show in 2007 due to an uneven udder. I have high hope
for 2008. We retained both kids from 2007 and repeated the breeding for
2008.
